About the gym

Ward Road Gym is right in the heart of the city which makes it a great venue for us!

Parking

The downside to being in the heart of the city is that parking is at a bit of a premium. There's on street parking available on Ward Road, Bell Street car park is just round the corner and there's lots of side streets with parking too.

Why Fencing?

Physical chess for all ages.

Accessible to anyone of any age, fencing is a great sport!

Don't worry if you're not traditionally "sporty", a lot of people find that fencing is quite different from many sports as its also not traditionally sporty. Its a very mental sport which challenges every part of your body. Fencing helps you develop speed, coordination and balance. Plus your concentration improves!

Fencing is primarily an individual sport (although team fencing is very popular with students and national squads). Despite this, its also a very social sport! All in all, its a really good way to get fit, meet new people, and have a good time.

The UK competitions calendar is full of different types of competitions; fun 48ers, nationally ranking opens, kids competitions, and Dundee's very own 1-hit epee competition.
